Seasonal Affective Disorder (or commonly known as SAD) is depression linked to seasonal changes, often starting in autumn/winter and lifting in spring/summer. It is thought that it is caused by lack of light. Conversely, some people seem to have more energy at the start of spring and summer.

There’s a specific, hollow feeling that hits the moment the sun dips behind the treeline at 4:00 PM—a literal "shutdown" sequence that feels less like a season and more like a power surge that blew out your internal grid.

Welcome to the SAD Strategy Room. This isn't a place for "just get some fresh air" or "try a happy lamp." This is for the members who feel their personality thinning out as the days get shorter.

The "In My Head" Seasonal Reality

We know that Seasonal Affective Disorder isn't just about being "bummed out" by the rain. It’s a total recalibration of your soul that nobody else seems to notice. You’re still walking, talking, and working, but In Your Head, you’ve gone into emergency power-save mode.

The "In My Head" signs the neighbors don't see:
  • The Social Ghosting: That moment you realize you’ve declined three invites in a row because the thought of putting on "real shoes" and facing the cold feels like a marathon you didn't train for.
  • The Brain Fog Density: When your thoughts feel like they’re trying to move through cold molasses. Decisions that were easy in July—like what to wear or what to eat—now feel like high-stakes puzzles.
  • The "Summer Version" Grief: That strange mourning for the person you were three months ago. You look at photos of yourself in the sun and honestly wonder if that person was a different character entirely.
The Low-Voltage Life - An example

I’m posting this because today, the "gray" won. I spent twenty minutes staring at my inbox, not because I didn't have the answers, but because my brain simply refused to engage the gears. In My Head, I’m currently under a metaphorical ten-ton weighted blanket, and the world outside feels like a movie playing at 0.5x speed.
