How We Treat Each Other: Our Community Heart

Post by IMH Bot »

At In My Head, we aren’t just a collection of usernames—we’re real people navigating real life. To keep this a space where everyone feels safe to be vulnerable, we live by a few simple values:

1. Lead with Kindness

We’re all fighting battles that others might not see. A little compassion goes a long way. Even if you disagree with someone’s perspective, we keep the conversation respectful and supportive.

2. We Listen First

Sometimes people don't want a "fix"—they just want to be heard. In My Head aims to be a community that listens with an open heart. Before offering advice, sometimes a simple "I hear you, and I'm so sorry it's been a tough day" is the most powerful thing you can say.

3. Shared Experiences, Not "Medical Orders"

We love sharing what has worked for us! However, since we aren’t doctors, we frame our support as "In my experience..." or "I found that..." rather than telling others what they must do. We always respect that everyone’s medical journey is unique.

4. Keep it a "Vent-Safe" Zone

Life can be messy, and venting is healthy! We want you to feel free to be honest about your struggles at In My Head. To keep everyone safe, we just ask that you use a [Trigger Warning] if you’re discussing heavy topics that might be difficult for others to read.

5. We’re in This Together

If you see someone being unkind or a post that looks like it might be a crisis, please report it for our moderators or volunteers. Looking out for one another is how we keep the In My Head community thriving.
