I am curious to know what medications you are on for anxiety?
I went through the SSRIs and now on an SNRI called Venlafaxine. Its only been a couple of week but I think I am feeling the benefit of it already though I am not sure if its placebo
I tried the likes of Escitalopram (which I think also helps with depression) etc... but none really seemed to work. Just curious now after all the attempts I have had what others are on?

I think my username gives away what I suffer from.
I may have posted this somewhere but I can't find the post.
I take pregabalin for Anxiety. I take it as I don't get on with SSRIs nor SNRIs (what you are taking). They interfere with my bipolar. On that topic, even Mirtazapine did not get on with me and that's not even an SSRI or SNRI but is classed as an antidepressant.
So I don't take an antidepressant for Anxiety but pregabalin instead.
Also, for severe flare ups I take a benzodiazepine called Clonazepam (again not an antidepressant). There are very strict rules and criteria for these types of drugs and GPs in particular do not like prescribing them short or long term. Once I ended up in A&E I was given a single diazepam tablet. It did nothing for me (this was all before I was bipolar) and now I am on some great medication.
Hi Annie.... a friend of mine is on Citalopram because she is also suffering from depression. She said it took a while to kick in for the depression....but as a side effect....if that is what you can call it.....her anxiety eased up a little bit and feels less panicked.
I'm not sure if citalopram is licensed for anxiety.....check with your GP.....might be worth a shot to discuss..... anyway thats my two cents xxx
Thanks for the responses Pikachu and SecretBipolar. I don't want to change, I just want to enquire out of curiosity. I think the SNRIs are the next step up from SSRIs.
