[Hello] Greetings from SecretBipolar

Post by SecretBipolar »

Greetings

My name is SecretBipolar and I am the founder and administrator of the In My Head community. I am thrilled to present this community to other people.

Since my early twenties my mental health had slowly declined to a point where I was experiencing multiple relapses per year - at which point I had no diagnosis.

After multiple visits to the GP (General Practitioner - Doctor), I was told that
Medication doesn't work for you and it is talking therapy that is required
Whilst that was some-what true in that I needed treatments such as CBT and mindfulness, I was eventually diagnosed with the below following a referral to the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and seeing a psychiatrist:
  1. Borderline Personality Disorder
  2. Bipolar Type 2
  3. Adjustment Disorder
  4. Autism Spectrum Disorder Suspected
I am now on a few medications including;
  1. Lamotrigine
  2. Lithium
  3. Quetiapine
  4. Pregabalin
  5. Clonazepam
I recently had a serious relapse where I was admitted to A&E and later moved to a psychiatric hospital. This episode lasted about 4 weeks. I still have trauma from it, still recovering and have significant memory loss. What I do know is that I had audio and visual hallucinations, trouble speaking, memory issues (requiring a brain scan) and altered behaviours. Unfortunately because of this episode I had to let the DVLA know and my driving license is suspended for 3 months or until DVLA have completed their medical investigations. This episode started last week of October 2025 and as of January 2026 I am still recovering. This episode has led me to creating this forum - I see it as part of my creative therapy and a hobby (I used to run forums in a previous life - so know what it takes).

Nobody, not even my immediate family (bar my partner) knows about my diagnosis (hence my name SecretBipolar) as I am afraid of rejection and mis-belief by my family. Unfortunately, I lost contact with my wider family, but I seem to be functioning in a fashion that is more true to myself and without added pressure now.

I am really looking forward to connecting with many people and sharing experiences here at this community.
Very best regards,
SecretBipolar
